Highfield Sauvignon Blanc 2007

*****

This white wine from Marlborough, New Zealand is gorgeous. Gooseberries, passionfruit with a hint of pepper. Crisp, lively acidity and a well balanced finish, will definitely be purchasing more of this. Yummy. Available from BubbleBrothers in Cork

St. Clair Vicars Choice Sauvignon Blanc 2007 Yet another cracking wine from Matt Thompson and St. Clair. Vicar’s Choice is St. Clair’s entry level wine and represents fantastic value. This wine has huge aromatics of gooseberries, grapefruit and...

Cook Bay Sauvignon Blanc

*****

We got a bottle of this Cook Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc locally. It's a blend of vineyards but hits all the usual NZ SB notes. At EUR14, I'd give it 4/5

Totara Hill 2006 Sauvignon Blanc

The worst Marlborough I've ever tasted. Can a screwcap be corked? Smelled awful. Gave up.

TaraPaca Sauvignon Blanc 2007

*****

A pleasant surprise from a pub small bottle. Good standard sauvignon taste without the wateriness that often comes from Chile. #wine

Maven Sauvignon Blanc

Another fantastic Sauv from Marlborough in NZ. More melon and less gooseberry than others. Drop the oak?

Seifried Nelson 2006 Sauvignon Blanc

*****

Cheaper than that average Marlborough, we bought this to see if it tasted as good. Nelson is described as the hottest area of NZ and the bottle mentions passionfruit.

Viajero Chilean Sauvignon Blanc 2007

*****

This is Lidl's best Sauvignon and as always is amazing value at less than €8. That puts it nearly half the price of a decent Marlborough. Better than any of the standard Chileans.

Mildly entertaining, not as enjoyable as her last #book, One Good Turn. And it is darker, maybe that's the problem.
